Nathan Deal and Ted Cruz on the secrets of attracting women to the GOP cause Atlanta Journal Constitution (blog) Republicans brought their debate on how to attract more female voters to Georgia on Friday night. There weren’t too many specifics, but plenty of acknowledgements about how far the party needs to go to close the 11 percent gender gap that divided President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney last year.

Bill allowing father-daughter dances becomes law Bellingham Herald PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Legislation that would allow public schools to hold father-daughter dances and other gender-segregated activities has become law without the governor’s signature, despite calls from women’s groups and civil libertarians that it is discriminatory.

Cranston school officials cancelled a father-daughter dance last year after the ACLU complained on behalf of a single mother whose daughter was not allowed to attend. The school committee asked for a change in the law.
