Femininity and Politics: What the Research Shows  New York Times As senior author of the research described in “The G.O.P.’s Feminine Mystique” (Sunday Review, Oct. 21), I’d like to describe the theoretical rationale and broader implications of analyzing the extent to which female lawmakers exhibit gender-typical facial features.

The women of Europe should be outraged New Europe The speed, ferocity and thoroughness with which leaders of Europe’s most “forward-thinking” democracies have criticized Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding’s draft directive to get 40% women on European boards amounts to knee-jerk political reactionism of the lowest form.  But it is also something worse. The vehemence with which the so-called “board quota directive” has been shot down reflects a far baser reaction to the prospect of empowered female leadership of any kind:  Fear, plain and simple.

Marginally more women in council of ministers TwoCircles.net New Delhi : There are marginally more women in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s team now, with four new women members joining the council of ministers Sunday. The council of ministers now has ten women compared to eight before the rejig. Two women ministers resigned just before the reshuffle.
