‘David Cameron tries his best’: a 9-year-old’s take on feminism Telegraph.co.uk Madeleine Jablonowska is nine-and-a-half, and a pupil at Emily Wilding Davison’s former school. After hearing about the suffragette’s efforts to win the vote for women, she was inspired to write about what Davison would be campaigning for today. Here, in Madeleine’s own words, is her take on 21st century feminism.

Last week, on the day of the celebration of my school’s 140th anniversary, a cousin of former pupil, Emily Wilding Davison, came to speak to us about the Suffragettes. I was fascinated. We all at the school pledged support for the campaign for a memorial for her at Epsom and a minute’s silence for her centenary. I wondered if Emily Wilding Davison had been alive now and at our school today, what she would be campaigning for.

What holds you back in the Labour Party isn’t being female, or poor, or black.
